2024 was the 20th anniversary and the final edition of the Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge. The time has come to retire the event. The organisers would like to thank the many people who have helped put on the event over the years, without their countless hours of dedication (some of whom helped at every edition) the event could not be run.
Secondly, of course thanks goes to the riders who’s entry money has gone to help 2 local causes, we are proud to say that every penny other than what was necessary to run the event has been donated to 39th Parkwood Scouts and Leymoor Cricket Club.
And finally, a massive thank you and well done to Jonny Brook who has been the driving force behind the event since 2004. Without his passion for the 2 local causes, cycling and the glorious valley in which we are based, none of this would have happened! You made it happen and it was great! Congratulations and very well done to you.

About The Event
Since the event’s first edition in 2004 we have striven to adapt our route to try and incorporate as much legal off-road riding as we possibly can. Over the intervening years our commitment has paid off handsomely as we have continued to develop the route and have secured access to several additional sections. These sections provide some added variety for our returning participants and complement the rest of the route nicely. As a bonus, one of the original, evil tarmac climbs has bitten the dust!
The 30 mile route is a mixture of demanding off road terrain, local roads and lanes, set around the picturesque, post-industrial countryside of the Colne Valley in Huddersfield.
The course travels through the heart of the “Last of the Summer Wine” and “Where the Heart Is” country. The event is open to anyone aged 12 or over, however under 16’s must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Riders of all abilities are welcomed, but are reminded that although this is primarily a fun event, the course is challenging.
This is a fundraising event in support of the 39th Parkwood Scout Group and Leymoor Cricket Club, Golcar.
